WeTHRIVE!, an initiative of Hamilton County Public Health, aims to foster a culture of health, safety, and vitality throughout Hamilton County utilizing a community driven approach. For 15 years HCPH has been partnering and power sharing with communities and schools to create sustainable changes.  WeTHRIVE! recognizes that communities and schools are experts in what works best for them and what their needs are, WeTHRIVE! staff partner with community and school teams to identify health and wellness priorities and develop strategies to address those priorities.   This webinar will highlight the WeTHRIVE! process and key elements of the initiative that have been crucial to WeTHRIVE!’s success.

This webinar is provided at no cost. PF! will be applying for Prevention CEUs and CHES hours. The prevention education domain for this session is: P2- Prevention Education & Service Delivery

Training Objectives

  1. Summarize the WeTHRIVE! process and community engagement strategies.
  2. Identify key elements of the WeTHRIVE! initiative and how to apply them to their program or initiative.
  3. Compare different structures for WeTHRIVE! teams and identify what might work best for their program or initiative.

Mary Ellen Knaebel MPH, MCHES
Director of Health Promotion and Education, Hamilton County Public Health

Mary Ellen Knaebel (MPH, MCHES) is the Director of Health Promotion and Education at Hamilton County Public Health where she works to create a culture of health, safety, and vitality throughout Hamilton County. She provides leadership for the agency’s WeTHRIVE! initiative that brings together public health, residents, community administration, and partners to create environments where all residents can thrive. The work within the division of Health Promotion and Education focuses on policy, systems, and environmental change strategies to make changes that will last for generations to come. Mary Ellen works with her team to ensure the work of the division of Health Promotion and Education is addressing the social determinants of health and the unique needs of each community within Hamilton County. She has over 10 years of experience managing local, state, and federal grants addressing various health concerns and disparities within Hamilton County. Mary Ellen has a B.S. in Biology from Elon University, a MPH from The Ohio State University and is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES).
