Four Communities Receive Hamilton County Mini Grants
Goal: To Strengthen Coalition Efforts

PreventionFIRST! is pleased to announce four communities with new and/or established PF! member coalitions were awarded mini grants from PF! funded by the Hamilton County Family Services and Treatment Levy.

Funded for 2020:

  • Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Youth Prevention Program in Avondale
  • Price Hill Drug Free Coalition
  • University of Cincinnati-Campus Alcohol and Other Drug Coalition
  • Xavier University Center for Population Health Evanston with the Avondale Coalition

The purpose of these mini grants, funded by the Hamilton County Family Services and Treatment Levy, are to improve the capacity of a coalition or prevention-intended group. The two overarching goals for the funding are to establish and strengthen collaboration among community sectors that support the efforts of community coalitions to prevent and reduce substance use/misuse among youth (18 and younger) and to reduce substance use/misuse among youth and, over time, among adults by addressing the factors in the community that increase the risk of substance use/misuse and promote the factors that minimize risk.

Grantees with carry out their action plans with technical assistance and learning collaborative trainings from PF! Each group will follow the Strategic Prevention Framework model -- an evidence-based prevention process.

Congratulations to the awarded coalitions!
