Local Coalitions Converge at OH Statehouse to Support MJ Prevention Testimony

March 28, 2016
Ohioans in the Greater Cincinnati area will have the opportunity to directly advocate at the Ohio Statehouse this month for marijuana prevention and against legalization of the Schedule I drug.

PreventionFIRST! President/CEO Mary Haag along with PF! staff and member coalitions will join Drug Free Action Alliance and other community members on March 31 starting at 3:00 p.m. to present testimony before the Ohio House Medical Marijuana Task Force. This a 15-member panel consisting of Ohio legislators who need to hear from your coalition and your community about why marijuana prevention is important, what youth are being exposed to, and why legalization without Food and Drug Administration review would present more problems than solutions. Two other dates in March were held for the open testimony. March 31 will be the last day to present before the Marijuana Task Force.

The testimony is not lobbying, since no formal bill has been introduced through this Task Force. The goal for the group is to gather information. If you or members of your community, for example, physicians, business owners, counselors, law enforcement, school officials, are interested in testifying, please contact Tony Coder at tcoder@drugfreeactionalliance.org or 614-540-9985.
