PreventionFIRST! Names Nicole Schiesler as New President/CEO
Announces Retirement of Current President/CEO Mary Haag
Cincinnati, OH — PreventionFIRST! is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has selected Nicole Schiesler, current Vice President of Coalition Strategies, to succeed Mary Haag as President and CEO effective October 1, 2019.
Schiesler joined PreventionFirst! in 2010. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist and an Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist with over 17 years of experience in the substance use/misuse prevention field. Schiesler earned a Master’s Degree in Health Promotion from the University of Cincinnati and an undergraduate degree in Community Health from Ohio University.
Dave Wallace, chair of the PreventionFirst! Board of Directors, said, “The Board is excited to name Nicole as our next President and CEO. She brings to this role extensive experience in the field of prevention. Her commitment to and understanding of the important work of PreventionFIRST! made her the ideal professional to lead our talented, and dedicated staff and advance the mission of this organization.”
Nicole will succeed Mary Haag, who will retire on September 30. Mary has been committed to PreventionFIRST! for 20 years and has successfully led the organization as
President and CEO for 10 years. Under her leadership, PreventionFIRST! has produced steady outcome improvements, grown fiscally, expanded its reach and staff, and is recognized as a local, state, and national expert in substance use/misuse prevention.

She brings a broad perspective of our operations, partners, and goals and that will serve PreventionFIRST! well as it continues to guide communities to a vibrant future. I am proud to leave my legacy in her unique and capable hands.”
